Jared Sutton was born in Oak Park, Michigan and started dancing through Charlotte Ballet’s Reach program as one of its first students. He attended Northwest School of the Arts and North Carolina School of the Arts and received his ballet training from Charlotte Ballet’s school and their pre-professional program; he then joined Charlotte Ballet II.

Sutton is the first student of the Reach program to be professionally contracted with Charlotte Ballet.
His repertory with the company included the Chinese Dance in The Nutcracker, the Crocodile in Peter Pan, and Christian Spuck’s Leonce and Lena.
Sutton appeared in the 2019 short film Jack Summer: Running from You.

Hope Muir, the artistic director of Charlotte Ballet, stated that Sutton was “a delight to be with in the studio” and a “quick learner” with an “insatiable appetite for new movement.”
