Jonathan Philbert is from New York, and began his dance training at Fiorello LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. While in high school, he was accepted into the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School (ABT JKO) under the direction of Franco Devita. During this time, he was a national training scholar and was exposed to the talent and training that the ballet world has to offer. Philbert performed with the company on numerous occasions and in such ballets as The Nutcracker, Sylvia, and La Bayadère. After graduating from the ABT JKO School, he joined Joffrey Ballet Studio Company under the direction of Ashley Wheater. There he danced roles in school productions like Von Rothbart in Swan Lake and Lead Couple in Napoli Divertissements and danced with the company in fall and spring productions. Jonathan joined Atlanta Ballet during the 2018-2019 season when he performed numerous works with the company such as Return to a Strange Land by Jiří Kylián, AON by Yury Yanowsky, and Cacti by Alexander Ekman, just to name a few.
