Born in Rio de Janeiro, Junor Souza studied at the Escola de Danca and the English National Ballet School after beginning his training at age seven. In 2006, he won first place at the Roseta Mauri Competition and joined the English National Ballet in 2008. He was promoted to the rank of first artist in 2010, junior soloist in 2011, and first soloist in 2014. That same year, he was awarded joint first place in ENB’s Emerging Dancer competition.

Sousa’s repertory includes the roles of the Prince in Wayne Eagling’s The Nutcracker, Prince Siegfried in Derek Deane’s Swan Lake, Albrecht in Akram Khan’s Giselle, Ali in Anna-Marie Holmes’ Le Corsaire, and Romeo in Rudolph Nureyev’s Romeo & Juliet. His other roles include those in Ben Stevenson’s Three Preludes; Liam Scarlett’s No Man’s Land; Kenneth MacMillan’s Manon; Stina Quagebeur’s Nora; Russell Maliphant’s Second Breath; William Forsythe’s In The Middle, Somewhat Elevated; and Aszure Barton’s Fantastic Beings.
