Anthony Spaulding, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, studied at Arizona Ballet School and the San Francisco Ballet School. After joining San Francisco Ballet in 2006, he was promoted to the rank of soloist in 2008. Spaulding, along with his Underskin partner Sarah Van Patten, was nominated for “Outstanding Achievement in Performance—Ensemble” at the 26th Annual Isadora Duncan Dance Awards. He can be seen in John Neumeir’s The Little Mermaid, filmed for PBS’s Great Performances series.

Spaulding’s repertory with SFB included Arabian in The Nutcracker, as well as roles in William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated; John Neumeier’s The Little Mermaid; Hans van Manen’s Variations for Two Couples; Edwaard Liang’s Symphonic Dances; and Yuri Possokhov’s Diving into the Lilacs.
Upon leaving SFB, he joined the Dance Theatre of Harlem in 2018.
With DTH, Spaulding has danced Royston Maldoom’s Adagietto No. 5, Darrell Grand Moultrie’s Harlem on My Mind, Geoffrey Holder’s Dougla, Robert Garland’s Return and New Bach, and Karel Shook’s Le Corsaire Adagio.
Spaulding is now an international guest artist and instructor.
