Taylor Stanley<\/strong><\/h2>\n

New York City Ballet: Apprentice (2009-2010), Corps de Ballet (2010-2013), Soloist (2013-2016), Principal (2016-present)<\/strong>

\"ImageTaylor Stanley was born to a mixed-race family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and started dancing at age three. He received his training from The Rock School, Miami City Ballet summer intensives, and the School of American Ballet starting in 2008.<\/div>\n
During his time at SAB, he performed in George Balanchine\u2019s Stars and Stripes<\/em> and was a recipient of the Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Promise.<\/div>\n
The following year, Stanley joined New York City Ballet as an apprentice. He became a member of the corps de ballet in 2010 and was awarded the Janice Levin Dancer Award in 2011\/12. During this time, he performed the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet<\/em>.<\/div>\n
Stanley was promoted to the rank of soloist in 2013 and principal in 2016.<\/div>\n
In 2015, Stanley started to pursue a BA through the LEAP program at St. Mary\u2019s College of California.<\/div>\n
He received a Bessie Award in 2019.<\/div>\n

Stanley originated feature roles in Kyle Abraham\u2019s The Runaway<\/em>; Warren Carlyle\u2019s Something to Dance About<\/em>; Pontus Lidberg\u2019s The Shimmering Asphalt<\/em>; Lauren Lovette\u2019s Not Our Fate<\/em> and The Shaded Line<\/em>; Peter Martins\u2019 Mes Oiseaux<\/em>; Justin Peck\u2019s Belles-Lettres<\/em>, Capricious Maneuvers<\/em>, Everywhere We Go<\/em>, In Creases<\/em>, New Blood<\/em>, The Most Incredible Thing (The Creator)<\/em>, Principia<\/em>, Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes<\/em>, and Scherzo Fantastique<\/em>; Alexei Ratmansky\u2019s Odessa<\/em>; Myles Thatcher\u2019s Polaris<\/em>; and Peter Walker\u2019s ten in seven<\/em>. He also originated many corps roles in pieces by choreographers like Benjamin Millepied, Justin Peck, and Peter Martins.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

His featured roles include those in George Balanchine\u2019s Apollo<\/em>, The Nutcracker<\/em>, A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream<\/em>, Symphony in C<\/em>, and Western Symphony<\/em>; August Bournonville\u2019s Bournonville Divertissements<\/em>; Peter Martins\u2019 The Sleeping Beauty<\/em>, Swan Lake<\/em>, Fearful Symmetries<\/em>, Romeo + Juliet<\/em>, and Hallelujah Junction<\/em>; Justin Peck\u2019s Year of the Rabbit<\/em> and The Times Are Racing<\/em>; Jerome Robbins\u2019 The Four Seasons<\/em>, Moves<\/em>, Interplay<\/em>, The Goldberg Variations<\/em>, and N.Y. Export: Opus Jazz<\/em>; and Christopher Wheeldon\u2019s Les Carillons<\/em>, Polyphonia<\/em>, and Carousel<\/em>.<\/div>\n

Even as a 19-year-old apprentice, Stanley was described by Dance Spirit Magazine<\/em> as having \u201cbuoyant jump, clean, crisp pirouettes and jaw-dropping extensions\u201d and a \u201cregal elegance.\u201d Five years later, Pointe Magazine<\/em> also lauded his \u201cregal presence<\/a>.\u201d Fellow NYCB dancer Erica Pereira noted that Stanley\u2019s partnering is exceptional, and choreographer Justin Peck described Stanley as \u201cthe most accurate interpreter of my movement style.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
