Born in Porta Alegre, Brazil, Rejane Duarte began her dance training at age six. Duarte studied at the Instituto Municipal de Belas Artes, Ballet Vera Bublitz, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem school.<\/div>\n
After a year at the school, Duarte joined DTH in 2000. Her repertoire with the company included George Balanchine\u2019s Agon<\/em>, Apollo<\/em>, Concerto Barocco<\/em>, The Four Temperaments<\/em>, Stars & Stripes<\/em>, Theme and Variations<\/em>, and Who Cares?<\/em>; Robert Garland<\/a>\u2019s The Joplin Dances<\/em> and Return<\/em>; Geoffrey Holder<\/a>\u2019s Dougla<\/em> and Banda<\/em>; Giselle<\/em>; Vincent Sekwati Mantsoe\u2019s Sasanka<\/em>; Arthur Mitchell<\/a>\u2019s South African Suite<\/em>; Domy Reiter-Soffer\u2019s Equus<\/em>; Augustus Van Heerden\u2019s Passion of the Blood<\/em>; and Billy Wilson<\/a>\u2019s Concerto in F<\/em> and Ginastera<\/em>.<\/div>\n
She has performed in Australia, China, Austria, Germany, Greece, Spain, and the UK and at venues like the Kennedy Center, New York City Center, and Lincoln Center.<\/div>\n
In 2001, The Wall Street Journal<\/em> called Duarte \u201cglamorous and authoritative,\u201d saying that she brought \u201ccompelling posture and crystalline movie\u201d to her role in South African Suite<\/em>.<\/div>\n
From 2005-2012, Duarte taught at the DTH school.<\/div>\n
Duarte received her Master\u2019s in nursing from Hunter College and BSN from NYU and now works as a nurse practitioner.<\/div>\n
