Eddie J. Shellman was a principal with the Dance Theatre of Harlem and a guest artist with the Royal Ballet.<\/div>\n
Shellman was in the original DTH casts of Royston Maldoom\u2019s Doina<\/em> (1978) and His Love is Everlasting<\/em> (1978); Robert North\u2019s Troy Game<\/em> (1978); Carlos Carvajal\u2019s Shapes of Evening<\/em> (1978) and Secret Silence<\/em> (1979); Choo San Goh\u2019s Introducing\u2026<\/em> (1978) and In the Glow of the Night<\/em> (1997); George Balanchine\u2019s The Four Temperaments<\/em> (1979) and Square Dance<\/em> (1983); Carmen de Lavallade\u2019s Sensemaya<\/em> (1979); Glen Tetley\u2019s Greening<\/em> (1980); Swan Lake<\/em> (staged by Frederic Franklin, 1980); Michel Fokine\u2019s Scheherazade<\/em> (1981); Marius Petipa\u2019s Pas de Dix<\/em> from Raymonda<\/em> (1983); Bronislava Nijinska\u2019s Les Biches<\/em> (1983); David Lichine\u2019s Graduation Ballet<\/em> (1983); Michael Smuin\u2019s Songs of Mahler<\/em> (1984) and A Song for Dead Warriors<\/em> (1993); Giselle<\/em> (as Albert, staged by Frederic Franklin, 1984); Istvan Rabovsky\u2019s Saffron Knot <\/em>(1986); Garth Fagan\u2019s Footprints Dressed in Red<\/em> (1986); Arthur Mitchell\u2019s John Henry<\/em> (1988) and Bach Passacaglia<\/em> (Mitchell with Rachel Sekyi, 1993); and Alvin Ailey\u2019s The River<\/em> (1993).<\/div>\n
When Arthur Mitchell announced DTH lay-offs in 1990, Shellman went to teach at Iowa University for a period and married fellow DTH member Endalyn Taylor.<\/div>\n
Shellman\u2019s film credits include the filmed version of Dance Theatre of Harlem\u2019s Creole Giselle<\/em> and the 1992 film Malcolm X<\/em>.<\/div>\n
