New York native Lisa Vernon Sparks is a former professional dancer with Ballet Memphis. Vernon graduated from Columbia University in 2000 and received her MBA from Boston\u2019s Northeastern University in 2014.<\/div>\n
Vernon began working as a print journalist in 2001. She has written for New Jersey\u2019s Star-Ledger<\/em>, the Homes News Tribune<\/em>, and Rhode Island\u2019s Providence Journal<\/em>. She currently works as a senior reporter for Virginia\u2019s Daily Press<\/em>.<\/div>\n

Regarding the similarities between journalism and ballet, Vernon said, \u201cboth are non-verbal types of communications that can convey the strongest messages.\u201d<\/p>\n
