Gregory Jackson grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and trained at the LaNita Rocknettes School of Dance. As a member of Dance Theatre of Harlem, Jackson was an original principal dancer in Arthur Mitchell\u2019s John Henry<\/em> (1988), and his other repertoire included Mitchell\u2019s F\u00eate Noire<\/em> and Holberg Suite<\/em>, George Balanchine\u2019s The Four Temperaments<\/em>, Giselle<\/em>, and Geoffrey Holder\u2019s Dougla<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Washington Post<\/em> praised Jackson\u2019s \u201cclassical stretch and clean line\u201d in a 1989 review of Giselle<\/em>, and The New York Times <\/em>called him one of \u201ctwo very fine young classicists\u201d in Arthur Mitchell\u2019s Holberg Suite<\/em> and \u201dyouthfully athletic\u201d in The Four Temperaments<\/em> in 1993.<\/p>\n

He was the recipient of a Princess Grace Award in 1986.<\/p>\n
