Muriel Cook had quite a Broadway career. She was part of the original cast for 4 Broadway productions including Blackbirds of 1939<\/em>, Swingin’ the Dream <\/em>(1939), Big White Fog<\/em> (1940), and Flying Colors<\/em> (1932). She built up her resum\u00e9 and reputation over time – while only casted as an extra in her first production, she was casted as a main character (Claudine Adams in Big White Fog<\/em>)\u00a0in her last. Her rise in the Broadway community was quick and notable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She was also part of a photography series (as seen in the picture above) about the show.<\/p>\n

Born in 1915, Muriel Cook was a member of the Negro Unit of Ballet Theatre<\/a>. She was a part of the original cast of Agnes de Mille\u2019s \u00a0Black Ritual<\/em><\/a> (1940) with Mabel Hart<\/a>, Edith Hurd<\/a> and Lavinia Williams<\/a> . Cook performed in the original Broadway casts of\u00a0Flying Colors<\/em>\u00a0(1932),\u00a0Lew Leslie\u2019s Blackbirds of 1939<\/em>,\u00a0Swingin\u2019 the Dream<\/em>\u00a0(1939), and\u00a0Big White Fog<\/em>\u00a0(as Claudine Adams, 1940). Cook worked as a singer, performing in Harlem clubs, at Broadway revues, and on tour in South America and Europe.<\/p>\n
