Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Nikisha Fogo was educated at the Kungliga Svenska Balettskolan and at the Royal Ballet School in London. In 2013 she joined the Wiener Staatsballett. In 2015, she was promoted to demi-soloist, in 2016 to soloist, and to principal in 2018 after her premiere in the principal role of Sylvia<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Her repertory includes Kitri’s Friend and Amor in Rudolf Nureyev\u2019s Don Quixote<\/em>; Prince’s Companion, the Little Swan, and the Hungarian dance (soloist role) in Nureyev\u2019s Swan Lake<\/em>; the Snowflake in Nureyev\u2019s The Nutcracker<\/em>; Cl\u00e9mence in Nureyev\u2019s Raymonda<\/em>; Olga in John Cranko\u2019s Onegin<\/em>; the friend in Frederick Ashton\u2019s La Fille mal gard\u00e9e<\/em>; Odalisque in Manuel Legris\u00b4 Le Corsaire<\/em>; Zigeunerin in Michael Corder\u2019s Die Schneek\u00f6nigin <\/em>(The Snow Queen<\/em>), the Shadow of Marie Antoinette in Patrick de Bana\u2019s Marie Antoinette<\/em>; a farmer in Elena Tschernischova\u2019s Giselle<\/em>; the Woman in Green, Anitra, the daughter of a Beduinen-H\u00e4uptlings in Edward Clug\u2019s Peer Gynt<\/em>, as well as lead roles in George Balanchine\u2019s Tarantella<\/em>, Stars and Stripes<\/em>, Allegro Brillante<\/em>, and Theme and Variations<\/em>; William Forsythe\u2019s The Second Detail<\/em>; Alexander Ekman’s Cacti<\/em>; Patrick de Bana’s Creatures<\/em>; Ji\u0159\u00ed Buben\u00ed\u010dek’s Le Souffle de l\u2019esprit<\/em>; John Neumeier\u2019s Le Sacre<\/em>, Verklungene Feste<\/em>, and Bach Suite III<\/em>; Kenneth MacMillan\u2019s Concerto<\/em>; and Wayne McGregor\u2019s EDEN|EDEN<\/em>. She created roles in Andr\u00e1s Luk\u00e1cs\u2019 Movements to Stravinsky<\/em> (second couple) and in Andrey Kaydanovskiy\u2019s Firebird<\/em> (Putzfrau\/Maid).<\/p>\n

Fogo’s awards and honors include the first prize at the 2010 Stora Daldansen competition in Falun (Sweden) and at the Ballet Competition in Grasse (France).<\/p>\n

She is now a principal dancer with San Francisco Ballet.<\/p>\n
