Daniel Durrett started dancing at the age of five at Dr. Lyrica Joy Ministries’ Ballet School then trained at Uptown Arts for two years. Cincinnati Ballet Artistic Director Victoria Morgan offered Durrett a full scholarship to continue his training at Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy. In 2013, Durrett was invited to join Houston Ballet II (HBII), Houston Ballet’s second company. While at Houston Ballet, Durrett performed in Stanton Welch’s Brigade, The Long Winding Road, A Time to Dance, Swan Lake, La Bayadére, The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, Blue, and Ben Stevenson’s Allegro Brillante. Durrett received the gold medal in the Pre-Professional Division of Indianapolis International Ballet Competition in June 2015 and joined Houston Ballet as an apprentice in November 2015. He joined Boston Ballet as an artist of the company in 2017.
