Patrick King was born on July 7, 1961 in the West Indies. King started dancing when he was seven years old and trained at the Dance Theatre of Harlem School for eight years. He became a member of the company before beginning a career in television and film. King was cast as a principal dancer in the 1980 classic movie Fame and worked for the Italian public broadcasting company Rai.
King formerly served as artistic director of Skånes Dansteater and is the founder and current creative director of Salon K Prive.
