Northwest Florida Ballet: Guest
Adam James, a Black British ballet dancer, trained at the Royal Ballet School. According to Theresa Howard, James was told that the school “would train him [but] they would never hire him” (My Body My Image).
James appeared in the original DTH cast of August Bournonville’s Flower Festival in Genzano (1990) and in the filmed-for-television production of Agnes de Milles’ Fall River Legend (1989). His turning skills in Arthur Mitchell’s Fete Noire were noted by both The New York Times in 1991 and The Washington Post in 1994.
James also danced as a guest artist in Northwest Florida Ballet’s The Nutcracker.
