Kye Cooley
Ballet West: Corps Artist (2021-present)
Kye Cooley is from Bowie, Maryland. She joined Ballet West II in 2021. Kye started dancing as a competitive dancer in multiple genres before transitioning to ballet. She trained at the School of American Ballet and the Washington School of Ballet. Kye has won multiple gold medals at international ballet and contemporary competitions such as Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition. She has also performed honorary roles choreographed by Mimmo Miccolis at the Italian Embassy and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Kye has choreographed works for the School of American Ballet’s choreographic workshop and the Washington School of Ballet’s choreography showcase. Between 2016-2018, Kye performed as a guest artist for the Harlem School of the Arts. She was also featured in the Disney+ documentary series “On Pointe.” With Ballet West, Kye’s favorite role to perform was “Screaming Girl” in Smuin’s Romeo + Juliet. In her free time, Kye likes to repurpose old and unused pointe shoes.
