Naazir Muhammad
Houston Ballet: Soloist (2017-present)
Naazir Muhammad was born in Brooklyn, New York. He attended the Brooklyn Ballet School from 2003-2010 and trained at the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School from 2010-2016. Muhammad was invited to join Houston Ballet Academy II in 2016 and was promoted into the Company as an Apprentice in 2017. He was promoted to the Corps de Ballet in 2018, to Demi Soloist in 2021 and became a Soloist in 2022.
Muhammad has featured in a variety of classic and contemporary ballet roles including Stanton Welch’s The Nutcracker, Giselle, Swan Lake, Marie, Sylvia, La Bayadère, Romeo and Juliet, Clear, Play, Divergence, Sons de L’âme, Red Earth; Asaf Messerer’s Spring Waters Pas de Deux; Aszure Barton’s Angular Momentum; Justin Peck’s Under the Folding Sky; Cathy Marston’s Summer and Smoke; Arthur Pita’s Good Vibrations; Mark Morris’ The Letter V; Ben Stevenson’s The Sleeping Beauty, Coppélia and Don Quixote; George Balanchine’s Jewels, Symphony in C and Concerto Barocco; Trey McIntyre’s Peter Pan, and more.
He has danced in tours of Stanton Welch’s Swan Lake in Dubai, UAE, Minneapolis, MN (2018) and Tokyo, Japan (2022), and Stanton Welch’s world premiere of Just at Jacob’s Pillow in Becket, MA (2018).
