Dance Theatre of Harlem (2000-2003)

In 2007, Joyelle Fobbs earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance Performance from The University of Michigan, graduating with honors. In 2013, she received her Master of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from The Ohio State University as a Presidential Fellow. She is an American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum teacher at all levels, a fully certified STOTTPilates Instructor since 2005, and actively serves on Ohio Dance’s Board of Directors.

Ms. Fobbs is originally from Lansing, MI, where she trained under Elzbieta Alabuszew-Kutek, Polish National Ballet Mistress, and Elizabeth Petrova, prima ballerina of Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2000, she performed with the Julliard Ensemble and by 2001, was performing with the Dance Theatre of Harlem across the US and around the world. Since then, she has performed soloist roles in Alonzo King’s Shostakovich #15, in Ronald Perry’s staging of Le Corsaire, and as Snow Queen in Barbara Banashikowski’s The Nutcracker.

Fobbs teaches trainee classes at BalletMet Dance Academy and choreographs for the academy as well. As the Pre-Professional Program Director, she mentors aspiring professional dancers and applies all her knowledge, skills, and experience to every class she teaches at BalletMet.
