Alexandra Terry was raised in New Canaan, Connecticut and began studying ballet at the New England Academy of Dance. She then started training at New York City’s Joffrey Ballet School and with Irina Dvorovenko and Karin Averty before attending Ellison Ballet and San Francisco Ballet School on scholarship.
Terry began her professional career at Ballet West II, where she remained for three years. She performed as a Parent and Snowflake in the main company’s The Nutcracker and the role of Beauty in the second company’s production of Beauty and the Beast. In a 2018 review of the latter show, Terry was described as a “standout” dancer.
After leaving the company, Terry returned to the East Coast and now works as a freelance dancer and teacher.
She has taught at New England Academy of Dance and The School of Ballet Theatre Company in West Hartford, Connecticut.

In 2018, Dance Spirit Magazine named Terry one of ten up-and-coming Black ballet dancers.
