Taurean Green is from the Munjoy Hill neighborhood of Portland, Maine, where he first discovered ballet at a local performance of The Nutcracker. Green was accepted into Portland School of Ballet’s scholarship program, which provides funding for foster children and underrepresented groups. Just a year later, he performed in The Nutcracker.

Green attended San Francisco Ballet School’s summer intensive on scholarship and left high school early to move to New York, starting his professional career. As a member of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, he toured internationally.
When the company went on a hiatus, Green moved to the West Coast to join Pacific Northwest Ballet and Company C Contemporary Ballet in San Francisco. He returned to Dance Theatre of Harlem in 2011.

Throughout his career, Green has performed lead roles in Michael Smuin’s A Song for Dead Warriors, Arthur Mitchell’s St. Louis Woman, Don Quixote, George Balanchine’s Apollo, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Four Seasons, La Bayadere, and Jerome Robbins’ Fancy Free.
