Memphis-native Maya Hawkins began dancing at the Ballet Memphis School at age three. During high school, Hawkins joined the Collage Dance Corps, where she danced works by Sidra Bell and Kevin Iega Jeff. Following her graduation, she trained at the School of Pennsylvania Ballet under Arantxa Ochoa.

She has attended many summer intensives on scholarship: The Ailey School, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Orlando Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Carolina Ballet, and Alonzo King LINES Ballet.

From 2015 to 2016, Hawkins was a trainee with Washington Ballet, dancing in Septime Webre’s The Nutcracker, Carmen, and Coppélia and George Balanchine’s Serenade.

With Cincinnati Ballet, where she was employed from 2016 to 2017, Hawkins performed in Kirk Peterson’s Coppelia, Victoria Morgan’s The Nutcracker, and excerpts from Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake.

Hawkins joined Charlottesville Ballet in 2017.
