Amber J. Merrick is from Baltimore, Maryland and started her training at Baltimore School for the Arts’ TWIGS program before attending their high school. She also studied at Miami City Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and American Ballet Theatre.

She attended Palucca Schule Dresden and earned her BFA in Dance Performance from Towson University.

Professionally, she has danced with Die Theater Chemnitz, Oakland Ballet Company, and Dallas Black Dance Theatre as well as in Cirque du Soleil productions Amaluna and Paramour (on Broadway).

As a teacher, Merrick has taught for Dallas Black Dance Academy, The Dance Conservatory at St. Paul’s School for Girls, Supernova Dance Company, Towson University Community Dance, Milford Mill Academy, and Franklin Middle School (Baltimore, Maryland) and has her Post-Baccalaureate K-12 Dance Teaching Certification from Towson University.

Merrick is the founder of CinnaBella, “street style [and] practical wear for the brown ballerina.”
