Anthony Javier Savoy was born in Annapolis, Maryland and started his classical ballet training at Abigail Francisco’s School of Classical Ballet at age 16. In his final year of high school, shortly after beginning ballet, Savoy was named Maryland All State Dancer. He was also later made a Cultural Ambassador for the US.

Working towards earning a BFA with a minor in Biology, he studied at Point Park University and Anne Arundel Community College.

In 2010, Savoy joined Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Dancing Through Barriers Ensemble and two years later, the main company.

Over the course of his career, he has performed at The Joyce Theatre, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, The Vineyard Arts Festival, The Vail International Dance Festival, The Virginia Arts Festival, the Kennedy Center’s installation “Ballet Across America,” and the 2016 Fire Island Dance Festival.

His leading roles have included those in George Balanchine’s Agon and Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Frederic Franklin’s Pas de Dix, Darrell Grand Moultrie’s Vessels and Equilibrium, Nacho Duato’s Coming Together, Ulysses Dove’s Dancing on the Front Porch of Heaven, and Alvin Ailey’s The Lark Ascending.

Savoy has appeared in publications like The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, FLATT Magazine, and Vintage Magazine and was on the cover of Columbia, South Carolina’s GO Columbia in 2016.
