Oklahoma City Ballet (2021-present): Corps de Ballet
Oslaniel Castillo, from Havana, Cuba, began his training at Nevada Ballet Theatre (NBT) where he studied under Monika Rostomian, Dodie Askegard, Clarice Rathers, James Canfield, and Roy Kaiser. Castillo joined NBT as a trainee for the 2016/17 season and was promoted to apprentice in 2019. During his time there, he was fortunate to perform in many ballets including Ben Stevenson’s Dracula and Swan Lake, and James Canfield’s The Nutcracker.
Castillo attended the Oklahoma City Ballet Summer Intensive in 2021 and was offered an apprenticeship for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons. He was then promoted to the corps de ballet for the 2023/24 season and is thrilled to continue into his third season at Oklahoma City Ballet.
With Oklahoma City Ballet, Castillo has performed in Jessica Lang’s To Familiar Spaces in Dream, Septime Webre’s ALICE (in wonderland), and Twyla Tharp’s The Golden Section.
Castillo has also performed in a “Tribute to Michael Jackson” at the Grand Theatre, in several collaborations with Cirque du Soleil, and as a guest artist for Microsoft. A few of his favorite roles include Russian in Robert Mills’ The Nutcracker, Men in White in Septime Webre’s ALICE (in wonderland), and collaborations with Cirque Du Soleil.
