Portia Adams is an accomplished professional ballet dancer, with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo in Monaco. Parallel to her professional career in ballet, Portia is also pursuing her bachelor’s degree in economics.

Portia began her ballet training at the age of five, at fourteen she accepted a full scholarship from San Francisco Ballet School for 3 years, under the direction of Patrick Armand. Portia completed her professional ballet training as a trainee at The Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam.

At the age of eighteen, Portia bagan her professional career in Lausanne, Switzerland with The Béjart Ballet. She performed numerous ballets in fourteen different countries in one year. Her most notable role being “The queen of the Night” from La Flûte Enchantée, her first principal role in her career at the age of twenty.

She later accepted a position with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, where she currently resides. She has performed countless ballets with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, most notably “Lady Capulet” from Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Romeo and Juliet at the age of twenty-three. She has worked with and performed works from a number of prominent choreographers such as: Jean- Christophe Maillot, Mats Ek, George Balanchine, David Dawson, Goyo Montero, and Sidi Larbi.

Portia Adams was one of 11 Black ballet dancers from around the world selected by Theresa Ruth Howard to create and perform in the world premiere of Donald Byrd’s From Other Suns, as part of The Kennedy Center’s Reframing the Narrative.She was invited be a Pathways to Performance Choreographic Program Fellow 2033 after which she was commissioned by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to choreograph a work on their Aspirant Students. This was her first choreographic offering.
