Steve Talbert, originally from Kingston, Jamaica, danced professionally with several ballet and modern dance companies. Talbert was a member of Ward Fleming’s New York Negro Ballet, Katherine Dunham Company, and the Joy Layne Dancers, a group active in the early 1960s, and toured internationally.
