Capitol Ballet and Clover Mathis

Clover Mathis accompanied his partner, Sandra Fortune Green, to Moscow for the International Ballet Competition. They danced a program consisting of Don Quixote, Le Corsaire, the grande pas de deux from The Sleeping Beauty, and Les Deux. They received numerous accolades for the successful performance. 

As a member of the Capitol Ballet Company, Matis performed the pas de deux from Don Quixote with Sandra Fortune Green on numerous occasions. The pair won the spirited approval of the audience for their original and distinctive interpretation.

During the premiere of Black Cries at Howard University, in 1973, Mathis and Fortune-Green performed in Les Deux.
