Jasmine Wheeler

Kansas City Ballet
Nashville Ballet: Company member (2022-present)

Jasmine Wheeler started dancing at three years old, but it was seeing American Ballet Theatre’s Swan Lake at the age of five that ignited her love of ballet. Wheeler began her formal training at Chicago Multi Cultural Dance Center and The Joffrey Ballet while attending the Chicago High School for the Arts. Prior to graduation, Wheeler wanted to continue on the path of becoming a professional ballet dancer and furthered her training with Ballet Chicago. While there, Wheeler performed in The Nutcracker for the first time, dancing roles such as Flower Corps, Mouse, and Party Parent. After her time at Ballet Chicago, Wheeler trained at A&A Ballet with Alexei Kremnev and Anna Reznik. During this time, Wheeler was able to dance some of her favorite roles, like Flower Lead, Arabian lead, and Carabosse.

In 2019, Wheeler was offered a second company contract with the Kansas City Ballet. While working in Kansas City, Wheeler was able to experience what it was like dancing with a professional company, dancing twenty-four shows of The Nutcracker and performing iconic ballets such as Swan Lake. At the end of the 2019-20 season, Wheeler was offered an apprenticeship with Nashville Ballet for the 2020-2021 season. In her first season with Nashville Ballet, Wheeler was able to perform in the broadcast premiere of Nashville Nutcracker, was the mother figure in Gerald Watson’s The Talk, and flesh person in Paul Vasterling’s Seasons.

When she’s not in the studio dancing, Wheeler loves making earrings and doing other crafts.
