The BLM uprisings of the summer were like rocket fuel to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work that was being done in ballet and beyond. For the first time, ballet leadership suspended the hierarchy and the voices of black and brown dancers were centered. Dancers were asked  to share their experiences and concerns. There has been a good deal of learning and awareness—the beginnings of a culture shift.

And much of it was sparked by the Village! Many of you have discovered ways to activate your activism, have found the courage to use your voice, have taken a seat at the table and are holding space!!
