Under the direction of Karen Mills Jennings, Love studied the Vaganova ballet technique in addition to modern dance and jazz. As a member of the Flint Youth Ballet, Love attended conferences such as the Regional Midwest performing Marius Petipa’s Raymonda and student choreography. Love then became a member of The Company, an inner city company directed by Joanna Paraschos where she worked with Flint School Systems performing lecture demonstrations. Love also spent two summers touring Europe with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp where she trained and studied with Jefferson Baum, Duncan Noble, and Amanda McKerrow. Love attended the Walnut Hill School in Natick, Massachusetts as a scholarship student, and received her High School diploma in 2003.
Love went to college at Boston Conservatory at Berklee in Boston, Massachusetts where she focused on various styles of dance including African, ballet, and modern. At the Boston Conservatory, Love performed in a range of works including Jose Limon’s The Winged reconstructed by Jennifer Scanlon and Martha Graham’s Night Journey reconstructed by Yuriko. While in Boston, Love also danced with BalletRox including in Anthony Williams’s Urban Nutcracker, a staging of the holiday classic in a modern urban setting. Love received her BFA in 2007. After graduating, Love relocated to the Bay Area where she performed guest roles with Oakland Ballet Company and Peninsula Ballet Theater. Her performance of the Arabian variation with Jeremiah Crank in Oakland Ballet’s The Nutcracker, was praised for its “uncommon fervor.” She also worked as an educator with Peninsula Ballet Theater and other Bay Area dance organizations.
