Jonathan Rodrigues, born in Brazil, trained at the Projeto Dança e Cidadania and the Royal Ballet Academy. His instructors included Rosana Maria Presente and Rubén Terranova.

Rodrigues briefly danced with the Cisne Negro Dance Company before he became a company member with the South African Ballet Theatre (now called Joburg Ballet) in 2011, eventually becoming a principal dancer. His leading roles included those in Black Swan, Carmina Burana, Cinderella, Coppélia, Don Quixote, Flames of Paris, Giselle, La Fille Mal Gardeé, Le Corsaire, The Nutcracker, and The Sleeping Beauty.
He performed with Tivoli Ballet from 2014 to 2016, dancing in productions like The Nutcracker and for the Queen of Denmark Margrethe II.
Also in 2014, he was awarded the Madge Code Award for “Best Career Dancer” of that year.

Rodrigues joined the Finnish National Opera and Ballet in Helsinki in 2017.
