Capitol Ballet and Maria Newby

Maria Newby was a prominent member of the Capitol Ballet Company. At the company’s performance, Capitol Ballet Company in Concert, at Howard University, on November 21, 1973, Cowan performed in Taps for Old Times, Les Deux, Hinty, The Black Cries, Flair for Movement, and Asha I. At another production, Piloting Capitol Ballet Clipper, Flight #4874 ‘Around the World,’ performed in 1974, Newby performed in “Carnival Day” (in “III. Galeao Airport, Rio de Janeiro”), “Songrant Day at the Thai Buddhist Temples” (in “IV. Paya Lebar Airport, Singapore, Asia”), “Bon Marche, The Left Bank (in “VII. Orly Airport, Paris, France”), and “Natives” (in “XIII. Duvalier Airport, Port-au-Prince, Haiti“).
