Charles Calhoun was a dancer with the Washington Ballet and Joffrey II. In 1982, Calhoun joined the latter and stayed for just one year. He traveled extensively through the US with the second company. He then returned to the Washington Ballet and remained for at least a decade, as he is mentioned in a 1993 review.

His “masculine presence” onstage was praised by the Warren Township, New Jersey’s Echoes-Sentinel in 1982. The Baltimore Sun called Calhoun a “conscientious partner” in a 1985 performance of George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco. In 1993, the same paper said he and his fellow dancers performed with “emotional acumen” in John Cranko’s Des Pas sur la neige.
