Matthew Griffin is from Ellenton, Florida and began his training in 2010 at The School of Russian Ballet (Sarasota, Florida) with Sergiy Mikhailov and Darya Fedotova. He is the recipient of an award from the USA International Ballet Competition in 2014. From 2014 to 2017, Griffin attended Butler University, earning his Bachelors of Science in Dance Arts Administration. After graduating, he joined Cincinnati Ballet as an apprentice, later being promoted to New Dancer in 2018 and corps de ballet member in 2019. Matthew currently dances with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.

He has performed lead roles in Victoria Morgan’s Dancing to Oz (Tin Man), Taylor Carrasco’s Neat, and Melissa Gelfin De-Poli’s Clockwise. Griffin has also performed choreography by George Balanchine, Helen Pickett, Jennifer Archibald, Travis Wall, Myles Thatcher, Jiří Kylián, David Morse, Nicolo Fonte, Devon Carney, Septime Webre, Heather Britt, Adam Hougland, and others.
