Carmen began her ballet training in Cary, NC at Cary Ballet Conservatory, where she trained throughout high school. She spent summers training as a scholarship student at Houston Ballet Academy, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem. During the early years of her career, Ms. Felder performed in Carolina Ballet’s Coppelia and The Nutcracker. She went on to earn her BFA from the University of Oklahoma in Ballet Performance with a minor in German. While at UO, Carmen trained under Mary Margaret Holt and performed many lead roles with Oklahoma Festival Ballet; she also toured with the company to the Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Arts Festival. After graduating, Carmen danced with Columbia City Ballet in Columbia, South Carolina. Carmen joined Carolina Ballet as a trainee in January 2011 and was promoted to the corps de ballet for the 2011-2012 season.
