Malik Berry was born and raised in Ohio and began his formal dance training at the age of 15. He attended Fort Hayes High School while studying on scholarship at Columbus Dance Theatre. After graduating high school, he joined Columbus Dance Theatre as a company member, where he danced from 2012-2014. He then moved to New York City and trained at American Ballet Theatre, The Ailey School, and Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Professional Training Program. In 2017, Berry joined Complexions Contemporary Ballet Company and was part of the company’s 2018 international tour to Jamaica. He has also danced as a guest artist with Dance Theatre of Harlem, including in the lead role of the “Acrobats” section of Geoffrey Holder’s Dougla in DTH’s 50th anniversary performances at New York City Center.

Berry has performed in a variety of works including Alvin Ailey’s Memoria, Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson’s Stardust with guest artist Misty Copeland, Jae Man Joo’s Goodnight, and Geoffrey Holder’s Dougla. In 2017, Berry received a Columbus Dances Fellowship award to support his choreography.
