Michaelyn Jackson studied at the the Jones-Haywood School and the School of American Ballet and was a member of New York Negro Ballet, though she did not follow the company on their UK tour. She attended SAB’s summer program alongside fellow dancer Louis Johnson. She later danced in his company in a 1958 performance at the 92nd Street Y.
