Dorothey Jimenez studied under Marion Cuyjet at the Judimar School. She later danced professionally with her former Judimar peers like Delores Browne and Frances Jimenez.

In 1957, Dorothey Jimenez joined Ward Fleming’s New York Negro Ballet. She performed alongside Anthony Bassae, Elizabeth Ann Thompson, Delores Browne, and Cleo Quitman. Jimenez joined the company on their tour throughout the UK, to New Castle, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, and Cardiff.
